Born in Rimini (Italy) in 1968, Andrea Lucchi graduated from the Conservatorio "Gioacchino Rossini" of Pesaro, winning the "Giuseppe Filippini Award" as the best student of that school. In 1984, he won the first prize at the International Musical Competition in Stresa with his "Giovanni Gabrieli Brass Quintet". In the course of the following years, he won auditions for some of Italy's most prestigious orchestras.  He played principal trumpet with the Orchestra Sinfonica "Arturo Toscanini" of Parma, the Symphony Orchestra of the Italian Radio and Television (RAI) in Rome, and the Orchestra Internazionale d'Italia. In 1989, he won the audition for principal trumpet with the Italian Youth Symphony Orchestra in Fiesole. In 1991, he won the National Competition "Amilcare Ponchielli" of Cremona in the category "Brass Soloists". From 1992 to 1996, he performed with the Orchestra of the Milan Scala Theatre and with the Symphony Orchestra of the Italian-Swiss Radio and Television in Lugano.  In 1994, he was appointed Professor of Trumpet at the Conservatory of Adria (Rovigo). From 1996 to 1998, Andrea Lucchi was a post-graduated student of Professor Max Sommerhalder at the Hochschule für Musik in Detmold, Germany, graduating in 1998 with the "Konzertexamen with distinction". In July 1996, Andrea Lucchi won the audition for principal trumpet of the National Symphony Orchestra of the Italian Radio and Television (RAI), position he currently holds. He also performs as "first call" principal trumpeter in the Accademy of Santa Cecilia Symphony Orchestra. Andrea Lucchi is a laureate of the International Trumpet Competitions of Asti and Porcia.
